Since 2002 Locus Research has built a reputation for deep research, original design and effective implementation. We have integrated life cycle thinking into the product development process and are a leader in the adoption and implementation of design research into the development process.
Locus has a client base that extends from New Zealand to the UK and has an informed international outlook. We collaborate with a wide number of organisations to deliver services that can assist research and development.
We have two design studios: Studio Mauao in Tauranga and Studio SixBee in Auckland.

Timothy Allan
Principal
Timothy brings more than a decade of sustainable product development in the commercial domain to the team, along with a proven ability to lead technology oriented product development projects and diversified design teams. Timothy brings a singular focus to his concept of life cycle thinking and its integration with commercial product development across a wide range of sectors.
Timothy specialises in larger research and development projects where an ability to interpret and deal with complexity is required.
Timothy splits his time between our studios in Tauranga and Auckland. He is usually available in the Auckland office Wednesday and Thursday of each week.

Blythe Rees-Jones
Design Leader — Product & Business Development
Blythe Rees-Jones is an award winning industrial designer who has a creative streak and a strong ability to drive collaboration. His skill in creating and visualising ideas quickly provides any team with resonance. Blythe leads the design studio at Locus Research.
Blythe has developed specialised knowledge in both the textiles sector and equipment design and has a wide range of relationships both here in New Zealand and further afield.

Rogier Simons has a wide range of consumer product design experience through The Product Group (UK) and Lexicon Systems (NZ). He brings a strong drive and varied design skills, having joined Locus Research recently to advance his skills in sustainable product development.

Designer — Communication & New Media
Vicky Teinaki is an energetic web addict who brings a user focus through a successfully completed masters and a product orientation through an industrial design degree. She brings real thought and intellect into any project.
Vicky is based in our Auckland office, Studio SixBee , and can often be seen burning the candle on Ponsonby Road.

Teresa Edwards
Office Manager — Accounts & Administration
Teresa Edwards, our office manager, ex-military — enough said. She keeps our two offices organised and running smoothly. Teresa manages the accounts and payroll functions within the office allowing the design team to focus on what it does best. Teresa also provides a support function to Principal Timothy Allan.
